How do I back-up Save Data on the Wii U?

I've had hardware failures in the past with other game consoles, resulting in a complete lost of all the game save data I hadn't backed up on external storage.

 

Since then I've taken the habit of backing up all my games' save data regularly but with the Wii U this appears to be impossible to accomplish in a practical manner. I have no interest in purchasing an external USB Harddrive, format it for my Wii U exclusively then use it strictly for a few MB of save data which does not guarantee my data will be recoverable should my Wii U suffers a hardware failure since the Drive is formatted only for that specific Wii U.

 

Can't we simply use an SD card or USB thumbdrive to back up save data?

Screen delays

So, I got my Wii U for Christmas 2013, and ever since I have plugged it into the TV, the TV screen has been delayed from all the actions that I do from any of the controlers. The gamepad is fine and responds quickly to the buttons that I press. On my TV, however, I push a button then wait for a little under a second until the action finally occurs. I don't have another TV to try the Wii out on, and I was wondering if I could fix this via the Wii.

Gamepad extremely short range

Hello,

 

Recently (within the last 2 weeks) I've noticed that my Gamepad has been having trouble staying connected to the console.  Previously, I've been able to keep the two connected as far as about 30 feet away (even through walls).  However, the connection has grown progressively worse, until as this morning my 3-year-old was not able to play without issues despite sitting directly next to the console (about 1-2 feet away).

 

Is anyone else experiencing this issue (or have experienced it in the past, with resolution)?  I do not suspect damage to the pad as it's only lightly to moderately used.  The only change within the last couple of weeks is that I've bought Super Mario 3D World and a 3rd-party dock for charging the gamepad and other controllers (I worry about the kids damaging the gamepad's power jack).

 

Any pointers or advice would be helpful.  I'm a Software Engineer so I've already gone through a lot of troubleshooting (short of surveying the wireless signal strength and re-syncing the gamepad to the console).

Unique scenario with eShop / Network ID account error

Back when the Wii U launched, I purchased one. Best Buy had a return policy during their holiday season (this was 2012 when the Wii U launched) where you could return it prior to the end of January 2013. Well, at that time, I was not satisfied with the Wii U and returned it. Today, April 2014, I purchased a Wii U. I try to link my eShop account, and it says that it is already registered to another Wii U, which is obviously the one I returned.

 

Now, I have a 3DS, and I even tried the route of UNLINKING. It worked, and I "re-linked" the account on my 3DS just fine... but I still get the same error message on my Wii U, stating it's registered for another Wii U console.

 

I'm unsure of what to do here. If there are any links, guides, instrucitons, etc that could help be unregister my name to my 2012 Wii U so I can register it for my new one. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much to those who respond.

Hi, thanks for reading my problem, I have the Wii U Gamepad Cradle and yesterday it was working great!, today I want to charge the Wii U Gamepad using Wii U Gamepad Cradle, but it doesn't charge it anymore, I don't know what happend, it was working great, but suddently sttoped charging, is there a solution for this?

So I thought, When I transfered my games from wii to wii U they would be the same or better... But no... THEY CROPPED MY SCREEN! enjoy playing the N64 fullscreen in 480i? TOO BAD! I get to play some unplayable [removed inappropriate content] in 1080P! I consider this damage, because no where in the transfer channel did it say this would happen. I WANT A REFUND!

Error Code 106-0105

I get this error code when trying to access the Online Rank scores in Nano Assault Neo.

 

Sometimes the scores will load in, but then quickly disapear giving me the error code. Most of the time scores don't load at all, just saying "No Data Available", then the error code.

 

I contacted Shin'en, the makers of the game who told me the code means "Unexpected error: Operation aborted".

 

They said it's not an issue with the game but with the internet/server side of things.

 

I've not seen a single person on the internet report this error code before. only me.

 

I have no problems with the internet on my Wii U at all other than this; I downloaded updates, access the miiverse, downloaded games off the eShop, browse the web - all this with no problems at all.

 

I have a Netgear WRN1000, the firewall is disabled. I've tried with automatic settings and also set up a connection with manual settings. My Wii U is 3 feet away from the router.

 

I even tried uninstalling the game and redownloading it from the eShop, that didn't work either.

 

I think I've ran out of things to try.

Error Code 105-1185

I looked up my error on the Customer Service website and it says it can't be found!  I encounter this error at various times while browsing the eShop.  It is currently preventing me from redeeming my download code for Super Mario World.

 

Here's the support information listed in the error:

1) 4.1.0U

2) WUP-101(02)

3) FW404675408

4) HAS7-0210-7375

Edit:  I just realized that I also get error when trying to update my system by playing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the first time.  This is a very confusing error because the update from the game should be self-contained.  What could be affecting my system's ability to update as well as simply viewing some items on the eShop?

 

Re-edit:  I tried starting the game and downloading the update three times and it finally worked... but I'm still getting the error in other instances!  Why would a persistent error only show up sometimes???

Wii U marks on the disc when taken out

Hello, I've purchased the deluxe version of the wiiU 32GB, and I've had it since December Christmas, enjoying the system, then after a while playing it, I noticed that my games started to get smudges and marks that eventually wipe off the disc, but I just wanted to know, should I replace the system? is this normal? each time I pull out the disc, it has either smudge marks on it, or basically scratches that can be removed easily and it's been bothering me because I've been enjoying the system, I haven't moved the console while the disc was inside the unit, I never dropped the unit anywhere and I've kept the disc cover clean so no dust can get inside of it, should I look up to replacing the system? I have Super Mario 3D World, each time I take the disc out, it either has smudges, and marks on it, and Need for Speed U, that sometimes has the same marks on the 3D World disc, should I replace the system, or is this normal? thanks for answering this if someone gets back!

Error Code Help! Easter Bunny Needs You!

The Easter Bunny just dropped $300 for a new Wii U Zelda bundle.  The Easter Bunny is not happy right now. 

 

I can't download the game because I have to do a system update before linking my account and downloading the game.

 

Can't update the system because I keep getting Error Code:  108-0134 ("Unable to Connect to Server).

 

The Nintendo Support site does not even recognize this error code, instead it says:

 

Error Code: 108-0134

Situation:

    Unable to find your specific error code. Please search your Wii U error code again, making sure to enter it exactly as it appears.

    If you are still unable to locate troubleshooting for your specific error code, below is a list of troubleshooting steps that resolve most home network connection issues:

 

This is not a good first impression on a product I saved up to splurge on for Easter.  I am going to have a very disappointed 8 year old on my hands.  Please help!  Happy Easter!

wii Minute to win it not playing on wiiu

Just bought minute to win it wii and tryed playing on wiiu. It says an error has occured press the eject button , remove the game disk, and turn off the power to the console. Please read the wii operationsmanual for further instructions.... The system plays all my other wii games and wiiu games with no problems. Siftware is up to date and system is not showing any other symptoms.

WiiU and Pokemon Ranch?

I was one of the few people who had alot of fun with My Pokemon Ranch back in the day, but I havent played it in forever. Ive since gotten a WiiU and I did a system transfer from my old Wii. When on Wii mode (to play smash brothers) Ive seen that the Pokemon Ranch icon is there, but Ive never gone into it, because I lost my copy of diamond.

 

But I just recently found out that if you deposit 999 pokemon in the ranch, the rancher trades you a MEW. I NEED this to complete the pokedex, but I only have platinum, which isnt compatable. Im planning to borrow my friends copy of diamond over the summer and just spend WEEKS doing nothing but breeding 100s of pokemon (i think i might need like 450 more. Ug) until i can get the Mew. Such is my dedication to pokemon.

 

But thats where my question comes in: Can the WiiU connect to a DS and allow my pokemon Diamond to interact with My Pokemon Ranch when the WiiU is in Wii mode? I know the WiiU can interact with the 3DS, but since I dont have diamond or pearl, I cant test whether it can still interact with a DS in Wii mode.

 

So could someone tell me if its still possible to deposit pokemon onto my ranch with the WiiU?

I put my wii u on a high shelf to get a better internet connection but it fell and made a weird noise i reset it and made the weird noise again and it did not read my disk so i took the disk out and put it back in and worked.The same thing happened on my old wii and to this day my wii still does not read disks \.

Should i be worried?

How to Configure the TV Connection Type

What type of cable are you using to connect your Wii U to your television?

HDMI Cable    •    Wii AV Cable    •    Wii Component Video Cable

What to Do:

  1. From the Wii U Menu, select "System Settings."
  2. Using the Left Stick, scroll to the "TV" icon and press the A Button.

  3. Tap "TV Connection Type."
  4. Select "Non-HDMI." The correct resolution will automatically be applied.
  5. Tap "OK" to confirm or "Back" to change to a different resolution.
  6. Tap "OK" to confirm the resolution setting.
  7. Select the aspect ratio of your TV.
    • You can find information about your TV's aspect ratio settings in its user guide.
    • If you select 4:3 aspect ratio, some parts of the display may be cut off.

Club Nintendo Mario Golf Code Won't Work

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but I am unable to get my code for Mario Golf to work. The code I recieved was from Club Nintendo, and I have been repeatedly been trying to get it to register, but it will not.

 

The error message that pops up is one that says "This game is currently not being distributed" when I enter in the code. Yes, I have copied the code down correctly, and I have even re-checked it while I am writing this message. Any assistance, advice or suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
