Brand new Wii-U receiving error code 160-0103 on startup

My family bought a Wii-U for Christmas and I unboxed it tonight to try to get the system update out of the way before Christmas morning.  The update failed, but allowed me to complete most of the system setup after the error message.  After importing my mii from my 3DS I tried to access the Wii-U menu to restart the system update and received a black screen saying "There is a problem with the system memory."  For help, make a note of the error code and visit support.nintendo.com.  Error Code: 160-0103.  I cannot get to any system menus.  I cannot do anything with the machine. I enter the error code on the support site and it says it cannot find the error code and give generic information about connecting with the router even though the system has not even loaded.  This was supposed to be a gift for my family tomorrow.

 

Is there anyway to reformat the system memory so that I can start the process over?

Brand new Wii U Gamepad Orange Blinking Light Won't Charge or Turn On

I just got a Wii U Sunday and Monday night I plugged everything in and the system turns on but the Gamepad doesn't so I set it up to charge and the light blinks orange.  I waited a couple hours and it still blinks orange and it won't turn on or do anything at all.  I even let it charge for about 24 hours and still the same thing.  I opened the back and removed the battery, waited, and then plugged it in to make sure everything was snug and I plug it in and still nothing.  What is going on?  I am having a hard time finding out what the blinking orange light means.

Wii U not reading Wii disks

I am having an issue with my wii u basic model reading any wii games.   The system is up to date and I am attempting to load the disks in wii mode with the console resting horizontally.  The disks are brand new and I am able to get our wii to play all of the game disks with out issue.    The games are: NSMB, SSB brawl, Monster Hunter, Goldeneye, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.   The system tells me that there is a disk read error.  I have not had any issues with reading wii u games.   Any ideas?    I've already tried resetting the console and unplugging it and leaving it off for 20 min.   Not sure what else I can try.

NNID locked after network issues?

I got my sons a Wii U for Christmas.  I initially tried creating my own NNID and then tried creating one for my oldest.  Due to the Dec 25 network issues, neither IDs could complete.  When attempting to create a new ID with the same name, it says "Already in Use".  When attempting to link an existing an error code appears.  When attempting to log in at miiverse.com it says that we must first complete the setup on the Wii U.

 

Many hours later I created a new NNID for my next oldest boy and it worked.  We also updated his 3DS and linked it to the new ID.  Did the same for my youngest. 

 

Tried again with both of the two original NNIDs and got the same results ... error.  I am thinking those IDs got interrupted by the outage earlier and the software doesn'thave the ability to "resume" an interrupted creation.

 

Any way to blow them away and recreate? Or any other suggestions?

I can't get my wii u to come up on my tv. My internet is connected. I keep getting the message that wpa2-Psk does not support. It was working fine just a few days ago. What do I need to do?

NNID E-mail Error

So I went through and created a NNID and towards the end it gave me an error and canceled it. The problem is now the Name I chose is already in use but it's really unlikely that someone else actually took it. I was able to log in on the miiverse website but it won't let me link. I think there may have been some error with the e-mail address, it's possible I entered it wrong twice.

Can't link NNID because update failed

I just got a new Wii U and was setting it up this morning. When it got to the update part it failed obviously because the servers are down. It then skipped the update and went to add a new user. Now when I want to link my existing ID it tells me that either it encounterd an error and trying again later which is probably the server issue but I also get an error sometimes saying that the system needs to be updated to use online features.

 

im afraid that the wii u cannot link my id because the update failed and now there's no way back and I can't access the main menu either. Do I need to have my Wii U replaced?

Wii u freezes when loading Super Mario u

Fresh out of the box this morning.  Set-up went very smooth.  Everything works until we put super mario U in.  Home screen loads then freezes.  Have to power console off to get anything to work again.  Tried several regular wii disks, and these all work.  We have no other Wii U games at the moment to test. Any suggestions?

Sync Issue With Gamepad

Opened the Wii U for Christmas and the sync button in the front of the wii U will not display the characters to match with the game pad. Anyone know a work around to get the sync button to work properly??

WiiU Update Problem

So here's an interesting problem.

 

I was setting up my WiiU for the first time and I got to the point for the System Update. Now either my internet failed or the fact that the WiiU online services are down made the update fail before it could even begin. So I skipped the update thinking I could just do it from the main menu later. The next part of the set up is the NN ID. I already have one from the 3DS so I wanted to link that to my new WiiU. However, it says I need the system update in order to do that! So I'm stuck. Making a new NN ID would screw everything up, right?

 

If I turn off and on the console it just plops me back at the NN ID page.

 

Any suggestions for what I should do?

Will disks with minor scratches and finger prints(which do not affect reading) damage the lens of my system?

Windwaker Dragon roost island issue

I downloaded The wind waker yesterday and when I got to Dragon roost island and the king gives you the windwaker it let me do the tune with 3 boxes, when I got to the one with 4 boxes it only game me 3 so I couldn't complete it. I tried restarting it and had the same issue. Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you fix it?

I got a new WiiU today. Went through all steps of updates and setups.  I logged into Eshop deposited $100. I went to download Monster Hunter 3 (the only reason i got this system)  and cannot connect anymore.    Can you tell me how I can log on my Eshop account on my home computer? As I boxed this POS up and will return it to the store tomorrow.

can't read disk/invalid disk on new Wii U:

Hi:

 

I have had a Nintendo Wii since about Christmas 2008. So time ago, something where now when I put a game disk in, I get a cannot read disk error or a error occurred message.

 

Now for Christmas this year, I got a new Nintendo Wii U, the deluxe set with the Mario Bros game disk. I used the system transfer tool and transferred what would transfer from the Wii over to the Wii U. After the transfer. When I put in the Mario game disk that came with the Wii U. I get a invalid disk message and yes I am trying to start the game from the Wii U menu. Also when I am on the Wii menu and put in a game disk that I already have, I get a cannot read disk error.

 

I had thought that there might be something wrong with my Wii system. But with this happening to a Wii U that is new, never used. I now doubt that there is anything wrong with the system, as the Wii U is brand new, never used. So I would say that the Wii U system should be ok. So now I believe that this might be a software problem. Or a problem with the disk channel. But it did not say anything that the disk channel from the Wii would be transferred to the Wii U. Since the Wii already has the disk channel.

 

I am wondering if there could be a problem with one of the items that was transferred from the Wii to the Wii U that could be causing a cannot read disk error.

 

I just did some trouble shooting, I deleted some of the save data and about couple of channels/games that I had downloaded from the Wii shop channel on the Wii. And I still get the can't read disk error. So why I do keep getting a can't read disk error when I am on the Wii menu and a invalid disk when I am on the Wii U menu and try to start a Wii U game disk? What could be cause or issue of this problem?

I've been on this forum for about 15 minutes. All I see everywhere is "I hate you Nintendo" "Taking back my system." "Can't connect to EShop." "Can't download Zelda." Seriously? Calm down! First of all it's the day after Christmas. All of you people that can't connect, guess what?! You're ALL trying to at the same time! Has no one here seen a midnight release for a game? How about when Diablo 3 servers first went up. Anyone here try to play that game on that day? It's impossible! The mass sign in of Diablo 3 on launch was so heavy it not only crashed the D3 servers but Starcraft and World of Warcraft servers all together. That is what's happening here. Anyone got a 360? Did you pick up CoD Ghosts on release day? Couldn't play online could you... Guess what? Servers flooded and crashed. Just like they are here. It's not Nintendo's fault so get off their backs so they can fix it!

Question about redownloading DLC after getting error message

Okay so for a temporary amount of time earlier today I managed to get on the eShop and input DLC codes for both Sonic Lost World and Batman Arkham Origins. However when I clicked the "download" option THAT'S when the error message decided to pop up, and of course the content didn't get placed in my download mangement. I manage to get back on the eShop again a few minutes later and thankfully found the recepits for the transactions and (after a minute or two of loading) the "my downloads" section showed that it did save the fact I have redeemed the codes and they are under my ownership. Now this is well and good, but when I clicked to redownload one of the items (the NiGHTS DLc for Sonic) it told me something like "item is already on the system, download again anyway?" and not sure what it meant I cancelled and exited the shop (and the shop's been down for good since then).

 

Now I did already have the Yoshi's Island DLC on my Wii U so that did show up in my system memory as "DLC" for Sonic Lost World, and just to be safe I decided to delete the content (the Yoshi DLC is free anyway), but since I can't access the shop again I don't know if I'll end up getting that message again (and the dowload mangement section still shows no activity of any items being downloaded to the system since the Christmas outage that's still ongoing as of typing this). So just wondering, was that "already on system" message concerning at all, even though the content itself did not get downloaded at all? (also worth noting the data section for Batman Arkham Origins is only showing my save data and the title update, no mention of DLC)

 

Thanks in advance, I just want to make sure I didn't mess something up by redeeming the codes and then getting an error only after selecting the "download" option during the code redemption.

The only present my sons wanted for Christmas was the new Wii U and The Legend of Zelda Windwaker. That's what they got for Christmas and here we are on the secound day with nothing to show for it. I did the updates which it appeared to do just fine and then we spent a couple hours trying to get on the eshop with no luck and a couple differnt repeating errors. Can't get on it to download. Then we tried to play a new Lego Marvel superhero game and it shows the game and then tells us it can't read the disk? It is a brand new disk? We tried one of our old Wii games and it works so we spent the rest of the day trying to figure out why we couldn't get this new game to work. Now I am on my secound day of this and seeing that everyone is having this problem. The service stinks. Really you didn't plan on a rush at Christmas? I am ready to take it back and be done but they still want to try to work it out. We will see how the next couple days goes but it will be a hard sell for me to go with Nintendo again.   I will be trying to call the support line to see if I can get through or taking this back to the store.
